Jones Island July 2005

Attempt number one at kayak camping - a smashing success!  V and I rented a double kayak in Lopez Village and paddled to Jones Island (about 2.5 hours) where we camped for the night.  It was a blast - very cool to be so close to the water in the sound - ferries passing by, seals, sailboats.  Super tiring though - our paddle muscles are sorely underdeveloped. Note for next time - unlike backpacking, weight is not a huge issue - pack goodies!
